Using Area Rugs As Wall Hangings

Walls are not exclusively for artworks, photographs or certificates of achievement. A wall in need of improvement is not only answered by a paint job. Believe it or not, an area rug can be placed on the wall for beauty and practical reasons. The former as wall hangings or decors, and the latter as a wall cover for seedy-looking parts. So yes, area rugs too are not just for walking on.
If your home has a two storey entry way with a large wall, this could the ideal space for an area rug to hang. Not only is an area rug able to cover a large amount of space but it will be lighter to hang than a heavy picture frame. It will also look nicer on the wall. This is an easy way to incorporate color into a room without having to pick up a paintbrush.
Even if you live in a more restricted space, hanging an area rug is still acceptable. Don’t think that this decorating technique is only meant for bigger houses. Not true at all. Smaller spaces hence, smaller walls can be adorned by smaller rugs. Smaller though doesn’t imply less quality or second rate. With the assortment of area rugs, even smaller sizes have amazing collections – great shapes, designs, colors, materials. What the bigger rugs have, the smaller ones also do. They just differ in, well, size. Oh yes, and price. So your living in a cuter space has its perks too.
It is highly recommended to select an area rug with design. Comparing it with a plain- looking one, with design sure looks better. If you’re not into complex and elaborate, then opt for a simpler design. There are area rugs especially made as wall hangings, so choosing from that collection will make the task easier for you. But an ordinary area rug with design will work just as well.
There are hanging systems sold in specialty stores used for hanging objects on the wall. If your rug is on the heavy side, you have to secure it more, but locking the top part will do in most cases. The rug will hang effortlessly. If your rug is quite light and thin, a strong tape is already effective. If it doesn’t work and your rug ends up being friends with the floor, just be grateful it’s all fabric and not glass breaking. Change to plan A and use sturdier hanging essentials.
Look for area rugs that you like and that display the type of color scheme that you have in your home. Hanging them up with double sided tape is an ideal way to incorporate these rugs as artwork into your home and is perfect for apartment living as you do not have to worry about putting any holes in the walls. Whether you live in a large home with large walls that need to be filled, or a small apartment, you can find area rugs that are perfect for hanging in your home.
