Old Dog, New Tricks

Through the years, I’ve used the Crosspoint Industries’ Voice Alert Kit (CIVA6000S) in myriad applications with great success. From announcing guest arrivals to triggering lawn sprinklers to discourage niegborhood dogs from using my yard as a dog run, the CIVA6000S has served me well.

The built-in contact closure of the CIVA6000T PIR Sensor has allowed me to use external sensors (ie magnetic switches, driveway sensors, doorbell buttons, etc) to trigger voice announcements. CITXPCBBHowever, connecting the external sensors to the CIVA6000T looks awkward and does degrade the transmitter’s all-weather construction. As a solution to this problem, Crosspoint Industries came up with the CITXPCBB Contact Closure transmitter. House in watertight NEMA box, the CITXPCBB has a transmission range of up to 1000′ line of sight or up to 300′ through walls. The NEMA box will handle all environments and includes mounting tabs to accommodate a variety of mounting options.

The CITXPCBB adds a new layer of  functionality to the family of Voice Alert transmitters. You can  get wireless notification from devices such as smoke alarms (make them talk!), CO (carbon monoxide) detectors, window/door/gate magnetic door contacts, doorbell buttons, water level sensors, flood sensors, pressure pads … to name a few. You’ll be instantly notified when an event occurs at the sensing device.

Using the line level audio and relay output from the CIVA6000S receiver, the Voice Alert system can trigger a voice announce through your NuVo EssentiaG , NuVo Grand Concerto or HAI HiFi whole house audio system. Basic announcements like “Guest at the door”, “Vehicle in the driveway”, “Pool Gate opened”, etc. can easily be broadcast throughout the house without the use of an automation controller.
